“She didn't just move things around; she created a system that actually makes sense for how my family lives.”
Julie’s kitchen had “reached a level of chaos that felt impossible to fix,” but we worked together to get it to “feel like a functional, organized room instead of a source of stress.”
Let’s take a look at how we made her lunch packing and food prep storage area feel healthy and quick…
Julie had been making a switch from using plastic to glass for packing lunches and storing pre-prepped food. She still had a lot of plastic containers that were missing lids and not being used, so we donated those.
With the remaining smaller glass containers, we set up a rack for lids to keep them in one place that is easy to see along side their corresponding container.
What was left were mostly bowls, and a few “bento boxes” she wanted to keep using, leaving her with easy to spot and easy to put away pull out shelves her and her family could access daily.
This is a family with three adorable, well cared for dogs. Caring for their fur babies being simple brings them daily joy.
They have a lot of dog walking, grooming, training, healthy treats and of course toys for their fur babies. Their main food and bowls were in one space. The leashes and toys in another. All of the other items were scattered in the general “junk drawer” and a cabinet in the kitchen, that you can see below.
First we put all of the walking and training items together in the space they already had that was working for them. Then we utilized a shelf next to their food bowls to organize all of their food, treats and grooming supplies. They also had an underutilized wicker basket which became a great home for all of the toys.
Now that we had an entire cabinet empty, there was space for their family “dinner and game nights,” which emptied space in an overfilled hall closet.
Baking is one way Julie and her daughter spend quality time together! Now they get to spend less time prepping and more time enjoying baking together.
This is a great example of a space that may not seem to be more organized at first glance, but Julie and her daughter love baking treats to share with their loved ones and friends. The problem: all of their baking contraptions were spread out in different parts of the kitchen so when they wanted to bake, they first had to go on a scavenger hunt to find everything they needed.
Now the bottom shelf is specifically for baking gadgets all in one place, easy to gather.
To make things even easier there is drawer and cupboard designated for baking utensils and staples at an arms length from the oven. Now, they only have to dance around each other if it’s because a great song is playing.
